Spring 2025 Staff - Alex Van Note

Hi - My name is Alex, and I am originally from St Johns, MI. I just finished my freshman year at NMU. My major is Biology with a concentration in Ecology and a minor in Philosophy.

I care tremendously about a lot of things, but at the top of the list is nature and its ethical use. I believe that a major part of ensuring proper use of the environment is education. Clear Lake Education Center provides just that: an incredible natural space to explore, with science worked into everything done.

While time and distance away from home has required an adjustment, I have enjoyed experiencing the Upper Peninsula and everything it has to offer. As a staff member, I have learned so much about myself, the world around me, and how to work with different types of people. This has definitely been an excellent experience, and I hope to return to the Center next spring.
